I’ll admit it’s probably clear by now that I am a huge Francophile. There’s just something about the effortless style, joie de vivre and charisma of the people, the romance of the city’s varied arrondissements and it’s diverse architecture, the complex flavours in the simplest of dishes, the respect for artisan breads and pastries with locale boulangeries and pâtisseries on every corner…and the butter. It’s all about the butter…
So when the opportunity presented itself to undertake a French For Beginners course with New Farm State School Community Education I leapt at it. Luckily for me my equally Euro-obsessed friend Yel was keen to join me, having just returned from a luxurious trip to France and Spain (unequivocally announcing she is now resolved to move to Paris). So on Thursday night we donned our ballet flats and beige trenches (I swear the coordination of outfits was pure coincidence. Although that is something I would do…) and skipped off to begin our 8 week voyage into Français!
So a warning to you all – I will be dropping in French phrases at every opportunity. As they say, practice makes perfect…or rather la pratique rend parfait!
