Over the past two weeks I have been venturing into the CBD for some further education (studying some Web courses with fellow foodie @feedmenowbrisbane). Neither of us work in the CBD and we took it as the perfect opportunity to try some of the delicious hot spots that other friends who are lucky enough to have offices in the heart of the city (*cough* looking at you @daz_zling :P) get to enjoy on a regular basis.
First on the list was Kiss the Berry at their recently opened Creek Street shop, where they churn out Açaí bowls, Açaí smoothies and delicious own-blend coffees. The duo behind the business are truly incredible – both so young and already with a thriving business under their belts…the stream of traffic through the door early on a Thursday morning was unbelievable! And the interior is adorable – enviro-minimalist-sleek with cute decorative homewares and adornments. PLUS, they use Rewardle which means every bowl earns your points…AND coffee is only an additional $2 if you order a bowl. #winning #fuellingmycoffeeaddiction
For breakfast I couldn’t go past their Original KTB Bowl after falling in love with them at their Eagle Farm Markets stall (they are also the hero in my Concrete Playground Feature – The Ten Best Healthy Breakfasts in Brisbane). You can also tweak your bowl to suit what I call your ‘current state of cravings’ and add or replace extra superfoods and toppings like protein powder, goji berries, coconut flakes, kiwi fruit…you get the idea.
It’s the best Açaí bowl I have ever come across because it’s not too intense or overwhelmingly berry-like once blitzed with banana, strawberries and a smidgen of apple juice. Creamy, filling and healthy with a sprinkling of chia seeds, slices of fresh banana and strawberries and (if you’re like me) a big glob of coconut yoghurt on top…it was icy whipped breakfast perfection! @feedmenowbrisbane and @daz_zling opted for the Snickers Delight Bowl which is a blend of Açaí berries, banana, raw almond butter, cacao and coconut water and was chocolately-deliciousness in healthy disguise.
And then of course I needed another fix for lunch the next week…so this happened. YUM.
Which KTB bowl is your favourite? If you haven’t been then go! Start with the Original KTB Bowl and work your way down the list…that’s my plan anyway.
