About this time last week I was still full from an epic evening of #brinner, or “breakfast for dinner” (whoever came up with that hashtag is actually a genius) enjoyed at the Little Pawpaw official launch party! And it really was a party.
Little Pawpaw had been on my breakfast hit list ever since it opened back in March and I was not disappointed when I went for breakfast only a few weeks ago (read my Concrete Playground Little Pawpaw review for deets on how I devoured a flowerbed and a bowl of one of the best mueslis I have ever had…). For those of you who don’t know, Little Pawpaw is the smaller sibling of iconic Pawpaw Cafe in Woollongabba and part of the formidable Venzin Group. General Manager, trailblazer, social savvy and untiring worker Giorgina Venzin is a force to be reckoned with and I for one am in complete awe after she has now launched two instant hit cafes in such a short amount of time (the other being Picnic in Coorparoo/Camp Hill).
As a big fan of the Pawpaw style of food and service I was over the moon when I was asked to come back last Thursday evening to officially celebrate their opening. Arriving at around 7pm, Little Pawpaw was humming and shining bright on a dimly lit Kitchener Road in Kedron. Vibrant and a-buzz with atmosphere, wood fires were glowing, a musician (a cute one at that) was crooning and girls donning their wicked cool Venzin Group tanks were bringing out a constant flow of goodies from the kitchen. It was a sight and I hadn’t even gotten inside yet!
Stepping up into the cute open space – after grabbing a passing raspberry spider with creamy vanilla ice cream to slurp on (it was ridiculously yummy) – I was immediately drawn to the eye candy on the desserts table. What a sight to behold. Lavish looking cakes, muffins, slices and biscuits covered the top, but on closer inspection I found there were also healthy treats! Which completely justified having dessert first.
Raw Beetroot Brownies (intensely gooey and chocolatey and possibly my favourite for the evening) and vegan Maple and Peanut Butter Fudge topped with salty popcorn (nutty goodness that words can’t describe) were savoured and sampled while the and Raw “Jam Donuts” which looked like cheesecake slices topped with a layer of raspberry jelly and healthy mini Lemon Meringues were admired.
Social Playground was also on hand to provide gorgeous instant Insta snaps of peoples’ uploads at the launch – a fantastic concept and great touch to provide everyone with a keepsake from the night. Giorgina really had thought of everything (events management is clearly a talent too!) with everything planned down to the last detail.
Then came the savouries and boy “breakfast for dinner” had never been so good. Mini Smashed Avocado rounds, Wagyu Cheese Burgers, Mushroom and Goats Cheese bamboo boats, Bacon and Haloumi with rocket on soft buns, signature Pawpaw style Corn and Zucchini Fritters with tomato relish and a blob of sour cream as well as crispy Sweet Potato Chips filled my stomach. No one left hungry that’s for sure!
Giorgina Venzin is certainly making her mark in the industry with Little Pawpaw already proving to be a smash hit success in it’s short life time. I certainly can’t wait to see what this talented entrepreneur does next.
Have you been to Little Pawpaw yet? What’s your favourite breakfast combo?
PS Their winter menu has now commenced, which means porridge! A return visit is definitely on the cards soon.
