One of the best parts about living in inner city Brisbane has got to be spending a stunning, sunny Saturday morning at Jan Powers Farmers Markets at the Powerhouse. It’s a morning to slow down, digest the weekend paper, trawl the stallholders’ goods, enjoy the hum of live music, examine and select your fresh produce and just absorb the vibrant atmosphere.
Arriving here over 3 years ago, it was one of the activities I loved the most – getting my dose of Genovese Coffee from the She Bangs Coffee stand, stocking up on fresh fruit and veg and grabbing some much needed sustenance from any of the array of cooked food stands. Now, it’s even better with new stallholders seemingly arriving in droves each week AND the announcement made earlier this year that the Powerhouse Farmers Markets will be weekly instead of every 2nd and 4th Saturday! (Thank goodness because I would always get my weekends mixed up).
So whether you’re a local, a Brisbane resident who has yet to make the trek, or just a visitor passing through – on a Saturday I highly recommend heading to the Brisbane Powerhouse for your farmers market fix…I’ll let the goodness speak for itself…

Bright & bold Gerbras.
…or a bacon & egg breakkie roll?
BEST raspberries from local grower My Berries. Sweet, juicy and plump – perfect for snacking as you trawl the stalls.
Dessert for breakfast. Completely justified when these babies from Bare Bite down in Byron are dairy free, gluten free, refined sugar free AND vegan.
Pick up fresh produce for pittance!
Finish your rounds with a refreshing juice or smoothie (the Shu Flu is a personal favourite).
