I can’t believe we’re already in July. So much has happened in what feels like such a short amount of time – where has this year gone?!
With so much going on and a jam-packed month ahead (bring on today’s Teneriffe Festival, tomorrow’s Story Bridge 75 Party, Good Food Month, Regional Flavours and even a Sydney weekend) I can’t help but look back and reflect on all those moments in June that didn’t make it to instagram or warrant it’s own blog post.
So this post is all about the month that was – filled with the usual shameless food porn from the likes of Madame Wu, Pineapple Express Cafe, Coppa Spuntino and Jan Powers Farmers Markets @ the Powerhouse (oh and a sneaky girls Grill’d date with a naked burger and large bucket of salty sweet potato fries…#noregets), as well as gravity defying spectacles that left us in stitches courtesy of Spiegelworld’s brilliant Absinthe, partying with the legends at Big Fish while stuffing ourselves with popcorn and tacos and moving performances by Pat Tierney launching his album Wild World Blues at Black Bear Lodge (made even better by the warmth and spice from mulled wine enjoyed with dear friends).
June, thanks for the memories.
The 4th – A night of crispy Cotoletta (basically an epic pork schnitzel Italian style) with zingy Rocket & Parmesan salad, buttery pillows of Gnocchi with Kale, Walnut & Truffle (heavenly), plump sweet Scallops with Charred Fennel & Cannellini Puree and Zucchini Fries at Coppa Spuntino followed by Absinthe‘s jaw-dropping physical feats and side-stich inducing politically incorrect comedy that bordered soft-porn…
The 11th – a sneaky Thursday night Grill’d date with @allthethingssheate…sweet potato chips for days.
The 14th – Seeking some healthy food solice at the newly opened Pineapple Express Cafe. The Full House with bacon, avo, beans, tomatoes and poached eggs on sourdough offered the perfect post workout refuel. Oh and a Cocowhip.
The 23rd – Views of the Story Bridge and delicious duck buns made for perfect school friend catch ups at Madame Wu. Followed by melt-in-your-mouth Black Kingfish Tartare with crispy bonito, creamy avocado and bursts of salty salmon pearls and wok fried Moreton Bay Bug meat & XO sauce mopped up with sesame fried green beans and steamed rice.
The 24th – Seduced by the smell of cinnamon spice and citrus at Black Bear Lodge led to mulled wines with friends on a “school night”…listening to epic acoustics and harmonica solos at the launch of Pat Tierney’s latest album Wild World Blues.
The 27th – Breakfast AND brunch enjoyed at my local Jan Powers Farmers Markets at the Powerhouse. Sautéed mushrooms with cous cous, chilli, avo and sour cream snapped up from the Mushroom Man along with my take-home pack of sous vide lamb shanks.
What did you get up to in June?
