First things first – hello from Surry Hills, Sydney!
Despite the fact that this weekend has been a blur of boxes, unpacking/re-packing, furniture building and culling my wardrobe down to half of its original contents, I have had the best time moving into our new apartment in Surry Hills. Anna (my #amazeballs housemate) and I laughed and then almost cried over the sheer volume of stuff that was delivered on Friday, crammed IKEA purchases, vacuum cleaners, bins and steam mops into my tiny Kia Rio and have eaten our way through About Life, Chur Burger and Messina in under 48 hours.
After only one short week, Sydney has already wooed me and I am in love with the melting pot that is Surry Hills. With its terrace houses, petite parks, creative crowds and bustling cafes at every turn, Surry Hills is a sensory feast, oozing coolness (as a result I feel I need to rethink my weekend uniform of workout gear and possibly sign myself up for a course in graphic design stat.).
So here are my first few snapshots as a Surry Hills local – featuring the ricotta hotcakes from Bills, “Aphrodite’s Bowl” from Devon Cafe, several street signs, houses and shop fronts, an epic burger with chilli mayo and sweet potato fries and a Rolls Royce.
